Hoyer Patient Lift Rentals in Los Angeles

Joerns Hoyer Patient Lift HML-400

Wishing Well Medical rents Hoyer patient lifts by the week or the month from our West Los Angeles showroom. A patient lift moves a person who cannot bear their own weight from one place to another — bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to commode, or up from the floor after a fall. Renting fits a recovery period, a hospice situation, or any time a lift is needed for weeks rather than years.

We deliver the lift to your home, set it up, and show the caregiver how to operate it before we leave.

What a Patient Lift Does

A patient lift transfers a person using a sling and a hydraulic boom rather than a caregiver lifting by hand. The caregiver rolls the sling under the patient, attaches it to the lift’s cradle, raises the patient clear of the surface, moves the lift on its casters, and lowers the patient onto the destination.

The lift carries the weight. This is the equipment that lets one caregiver move a person safely who could not otherwise be moved without two or three people.

The Hoyer Lift We Rent

We rent a manual hydraulic Hoyer lift. It raises and lowers with a hand-pump handle rather than a motor, so there is no battery to charge and nothing to plug in.

Type Manual hydraulic
Weight capacity 400 lbs
Lift weight Approximately 68 lbs
Cradle 6-point swivel bar
Base Adjustable width, opens to clear chairs and commodes
Casters Low-friction, lockable

Slings Are Sold Separately

A sling is required to use the lift and is not included with the rental. Slings are personal-use items and are available for purchase at our showroom.

Two types cover most situations. A full-body sling supports the head, back, and legs and is suitable for a patient with limited trunk control. A cross-leg or U-style sling is easier to place and remove, leaving the seat open for toileting. Our staff will help match the sling to the patient and the transfers you need to make.

How the Rental Works

Rentals run by the week or the month. A valid ID and a credit card are required. A family member or caregiver may rent on the patient’s behalf. We accept cash and card and do not bill insurance. No prescription is required to rent a patient lift.

Delivery and Setup in Los Angeles County

We deliver throughout Los Angeles County for a distance-based fee. The lift arrives assembled. We demonstrate the pump, the base adjustment, the brakes, and a full transfer before leaving, so the caregiver has done it once with us present.

Renting Versus Buying

Renting fits a defined period — recovery from surgery, a hospice stay, or a trial before committing to a purchase. Buying fits a long-term or permanent need. Our staff can walk through both, and a rental can apply toward a purchase in some cases.

How much weight does the lift hold?

The Hoyer lift we rent has a 400-pound weight capacity.

Do I need a prescription to rent a patient lift?

No. A prescription is not required to rent a patient lift from Wishing Well Medical.

Do you deliver the lift?

Yes. We deliver throughout Los Angeles County for a fee based on distance, and we set up the lift and demonstrate a transfer before leaving.
