What a Full Electric Hospital Bed Does

Full electric means the head section, foot section, and bed height are all powered and adjust from the hand control. A semi-electric hospital bed powers the head and foot sections but uses a hand crank at the foot of the bed to raise and lower the height.

Frame and Construction

• Channel frame construction with a zinc-coated spring deck.
• Wood grain panels on the head and foot boards. The manufacturer describes the panels as break and scratch resistant.
• The headboard is taller than the footboard.
• The motor is self-contained. The motor assembly can be installed and removed with the patient in the bed.
• A transition box mounted on the foot section changes the rotation of the high/low shaft. Once installed, the shaft stays with the bed.
• The manufacturer states the frame accepts bed ends from most other manufacturers, older and current.
• The manufacturer states the bed, side rails, and mattress were safety tested by SGS, that the bed satisfies applicable FDA entrapment guidelines, and that the motor is UL approved.

Weight Capacity and Dimensions

The manufacturer states the foot section weighs 50% less than a conventional foot section.

Side Rails and Mattress Included

The bed comes with side rails and a mattress. The rails install to the frame with labeled, color-coded springs that identify the correct position for each one.

Battery Backup and Hand Control

A 9-volt battery sits inside the hand control. During a power outage it lowers the head and foot sections, rated by the manufacturer for nine cycles. No crank is required. The hand pendant has large controls.
