Hoyer Classic Hydraulic Patient Lift

The Hoyer HML-400 is a manual hydraulic patient lift rated for 400 pounds. A hand-operated pump raises and lowers the boom, so the lift requires no battery and no power outlet. The six-point cradle spaces its four outer attachment points across the full width of the bar, so the sling hangs in a wide U rather than pulling into a narrow V.

The adjustable U-base opens from 24 to 40 inches to fit around wheelchairs, commodes, and chairs.

Description

Manual Hydraulic Hoyer Lift for Home Transfers

The HML-400 is a full-size floor lift used to move a person between a bed, wheelchair, chair, commode, or the floor. Lifting is powered by a hydraulic hand pump mounted at the base of the mast. The pump handle rotates, allowing a caregiver to operate the lift from either side. Lowering is controlled by a pressure-release knob rather than a motor, so the lift functions during a power outage.

The cradle is a non-sway design. The boom, mast, and base form an angular frame finished in tan.

Lift Range and Weight Capacity

The HML-400 has a safe working load of 400 pounds. The boom travels from 28.25 inches to 75 inches, a range that reaches the floor at its lowest setting and clears a standard bed height at its highest. Floor pickup is within the lift’s rated range.

Adjustable U-Base and Caster Clearance

The base adjusts from 24 inches closed to 40 inches open, controlled by a lever handle at the rear. Closed, the base passes through standard interior doorways. Open, it positions around commodes, wheelchairs, and armchairs. The base length is 43 inches, and the floor-to-frame clearance is 5.25 inches, allowing the legs to pass under most bed frames and chairs.

The lift rolls on four casters. The rear casters have wheel locks intended for parking only. Casters are left unlocked during a transfer so the base can shift to balance the load.

Sling Compatibility

The HML-400 uses a six-point cradle. The four outside attachment points accept Hoyer four-point slings. The two inside center points are used only for slings fitted with chains or straps. Slings are sold separately and are selected by cradle type, patient weight, and transfer application. Bring measurements or call before ordering a sling.

Assembly, Disassembly, and Storage

The mast separates from the base without tools once the mast safety lock is removed, and the unit breaks down for storage or transport in a vehicle. Initial assembly requires 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch wrenches, 3/16-inch and 1/8-inch hex wrenches, and grease applied to all bolts. Wishing Well Medical assembles lifts prior to delivery.
