The Littmann Lightweight II SE is the lightest adult stethoscope Littmann makes, at 118 grams. It has a tunable diaphragm and a double-sided chestpiece, and it is built for blood pressure readings and everyday physical assessments. It is Littmann’s entry-level model, suited to nursing students, LPNs, CNAs, medical assistants, and EMTs.

The tunable diaphragm changes the frequency it picks up based on how hard you press. Light pressure on the chestpiece brings out low-frequency sounds; firmer pressure brings out higher-frequency sounds. You switch between the two without lifting and flipping the chestpiece, so you stay on the patient.
At 118 grams, this is the lightest adult stethoscope in the Littmann line. The weight matters for anyone who wears a stethoscope around their neck through a full shift. The headset tension adjusts by squeezing or spreading the ear tubes for a fit that holds without pinching.
The chestpiece is a teardrop shape rather than a full circle, which lets it slide under a blood pressure cuff and around bandages where a round chestpiece will not sit flat. A non-chill rim and diaphragm sit against the patient’s skin without the cold shock of bare metal.
This is Littmann’s entry-level stethoscope. Littmann positions it for blood pressure monitoring and limited physical assessment of adult patients, which makes it a fit for nursing students, LPNs and LVNs, certified nursing assistants, medical assistants, and EMTs.
