Electric Patient Lift Rated to 450 Pounds
The Reliant 450 is a full-size floor lift used to move a person between a bed, wheelchair, chair, commode, or the floor. Lifting and lowering are powered by a removable battery and controlled from a hand pendant. The frame is steel. Invacare states an eight-year expected service life for the unit.
At 450 pounds, this lift carries 50 pounds more than the Hoyer Classic models and 110 pounds more than the folding Hoyer Advance-E.
Lift Range and Clearance
The boom travels from 24 inches to 74 inches. Floor pickup is within the rated range. Transfers over a bed or tub require at least 4.5 inches of clearance beneath the frame for the base legs to pass under.
Battery System and Charging
The lift ships with two 24-volt batteries. One mounts on the lift; the second sits on a wall-mounted charging station, so a charged battery is always available, and the lift stays in service during charging. The battery pack detaches from the control box by a handle at the rear. Invacare rates the system at 150 to 300 lifts per charge and recommends daily charging.
Safety Systems
Three systems are fitted as standard. An anti-entrapment feature stops the boom if it meets resistance while lowering. A manual emergency lowering device brings the boom down without power. An emergency stop button cuts power to the actuator.
Pinch-point protection is fitted across the moving parts of the lift.
Six-Point Swivel Bar and Sling Compatibility
The Reliant 450 uses a padded swivel bar with a six-point hookup that rotates 360 degrees. It accepts two-point, four-point, and six-point slings, including chain-free slings and older slings fitted with chains or straps. Slings are sold separately and are selected by bar type, patient weight, and transfer application. Bring measurements or call before ordering a sling.
Base Adjustment and Casters
Base legs open and lock into position with a padded shifter handle at the rear of the base. Base height is 4.5 inches. The lift rolls on 3-inch front casters and 5-inch rear casters; the rear casters lock.
A power-opening base version of this lift, the RPL450-2, operates the legs from the hand pendant instead of the shifter handle. Call for availability.
Choosing Between the Reliant 450 and the Hoyer Models
Wishing Well Medical carries four floor lifts. The Reliant 450 is the highest-capacity unit at 450 pounds, offers the highest boom travel at 74 inches, and has the lowest starting height of the three full-size lifts at 24 inches.
The Hoyer Classic Deluxe Power Lifter (HPL402) is rated for 400 pounds and runs 29 to 76 inches. The Hoyer Classic Hydraulic Patient Lifter (HML400) is rated for 400 pounds, runs on a hand pump with no battery, and separates into mast and base for storage. The Hoyer Advance-E is rated for 340 pounds and folds without tools for transport.
